Georgia takes gold in the men’s final

Georgia wins the last Event of these European Championships in Vienna!
The Georgian team beats France 2:3 in the final of the Team Event.
The French star Teddy Riner could not – despite a win in the heavyweight fight – avert the close loss.
Third places went to Russia and Romania!

Italy wins Team championships women!

Italy wins the European Team Championships for Women on the last day of the EC in Vienna after a 4:1 win in the Final against Poland.
3rd places for Great Britain and the Ukraine.

Preview of the last competition Day – Teams

The last Day serves the Team competitions of both women and men!

The Teams consist of five athletes each (-66,-73,-81,-90,+90 / -52,-57,-63,-70,+70).

13 Nations registererd for the men’s competition, 9 for the women’s event!

The Elimination rounds start at 10am again, the finals at 5pm like the days before!

Special Ticket offer!

On Saturday and Sunday, students can buy youth tickets if a valid student ID card can be presented at the ticket box office at the Arena.

Attention, Putin comes!

On Saturday and Sunday, special security checks will be done on the entry gates of the Arena. Please prepare for possibly longer lines!

It is strongly recommended, not to bring large liquidity containers (water bottles, and so on), knifes (or any other weapons!) and so on to the arena! Procedures will be very similar to Airport security procedures!

Bronze Medals for Vera Koval after a very spectacular Ura-Nage.

Tickets are available only at the box-office in the Arena.

The box-office is open every day from 8:30am from Thursday to Sunday.

The doors open Thursday to Sunday every day at 9:00am!

80% of the tickets are sold – we expect a great atmosphere in a full Judo Hall!

On Thursday, 2.600 out of 3.000 tickets are sold.

400 Tickets are still available in Category 2 and 3.

Finally we got all starting lists:

305 Athletes are expected to start in Vienna!

(190 Men, 115 Women)

The largest category will be the 81kg-Category with 31 Judoka.

some Big Names:

- Olympic Champion Dumitru from Romania will fight hard to win her 6th european title in the 48kg category!

- Ludwig Paischer will meet World Champion Zantaraya (UKR) in the 60kg catergory.

- And in the 100kg is a Dutch-Dutch-Belgian duell between Elco van der Geest and Henk Grol possible!

The ticketselling is very successful, more than 7.000 of the total 12.000 tickets (=3.000 Tickets per day) are already sold!

The number of sold tickets includes 1.300 4-Tages-Packages as well!

Hotseller is the first day – we call it the Paischer-Filzmoser-Day,

category 1 is already sold out on Thursday!

Since we expect many club orders still to come, make sure that you book your tickets early enough!

Team Germany – 14 athletes

The German Judo Bund nominated two complete team for the European Championships in Vienna.
Even though Olympic Champion Ole Bischof is missing, several impressive names are among the German top 14.
Michaela Baschin, Franziska Konitz, Benjamin Behrla and Andreas Tölzer – just to name some of them.
Needless to say that Team Germany will start in both team events…

On Monday we will know all names…

Next Monday is the end of the registration deadline. By that day, all National Judo Federations have to send in the name list of their athletes for the EC in Vienna to the European Judo Union.

We expect to present the full name list of the participating Judokas by Tuesday here on this webpage! Check it out!
